Toprak Razgatlioglu Targets Major Steps For 2027 After Tough Rookie MotoGP Campaign

Toprak Razgatlioglu has revealed that his sights are firmly set on a major competitive leap for the 2027 season, despite enduring a difficult opening campaign in the MotoGP world championship. Following a transition from WorldSBK where he secured back-to-back dominant titles, the Turkish rider currently sits 21st in the standings after the first twelve races, with an eleventh-place finish marking his highest result to date.

Speaking ahead of the British Grand Prix, the Pramac Yamaha racer reflected on a rookie year that has fallen short of his usual standards. Having completed the equivalent length of a Superbike championship in his first twelve grand prix weekends, Razgatlioglu acknowledged that fighting outside the top ten is far from satisfying after years of regular victories.

Teammate Jack Miller pointed out that the 2026 timing has proved unfortunate for the newcomer, who arrived just as Yamaha embarked on developing a fundamentally new machine. Razgatlioglu echoed those sentiments, noting that both he and the factory are navigating a steep learning curve with the brand's evolving V4 project.

Despite the ongoing struggles on track, which have left him regularly finishing outside the points-paying positions in recent rounds, the 2026 rookie maintains strong confidence in the Iwata manufacturer. He believes their historical pedigree will eventually push them back to the sharp end of the grid once development settles.

For the remainder of the current campaign, Razgatlioglu remains focused on accelerating his adaptation to grand prix machinery and cracking the top ten. Any progress made between now and the conclusion of 2026 will serve primarily as foundation work for his larger ambitions when the championship enters its next technical era in 2027.
